Talis travels to Athens

Talis Project will travel to Athens next June 27th. We have been invited to take part as speakers in the international conference Creative uses of Language and Literature in Education: Lectures, Workshops and Teaching Projects which will take place on June 27th and 28th. This conference has been organised by Dr. Tzina Kaologirou from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, one of our colleagues within the Erasmus plus programme. Dr. Kalogirou is one of our most important and devoted partners in Talis, working hard for this international, intercultural and solidary project. We have been invited, within their postgraduate framework, in order to give a talk on Talis, as well as a two-hours-long creative-writing workshop. It will be a two-days event full of interesting talks, workshops and even a storytelling session.

This April we are to be congratulated! Our proposal submitted within the call from the Development Studies UNESCO´s Chair of the University of Valencia for the project Talis, much more than a Mountain Range… Tales from Peru has been accepted.

This project consists of creative writing and illustration workshops carried out in Peru, in addition to the subsequent revision, translation, and publication of the tales created in the aforementioned workshops, including the corresponding illustrations.

The objective of this call is to support initiatives, activities, and projects carried out by members of the university community which encourage education in human and sustainable development in any discipline. Furthermore, the project hopes to encourage those projects which foster the awareness on the cooperation for the development and the fight against the causes of poverty in the world.

In this regard, the most highlighted activities by the UNESCO’s Chair which are carried out in this scope are: the creation of a network of university exchanges, the promotion of short stays for visiting professors, the promotion of the creation and dissemination of didactic materials on the situation of developing countries, as well as direct aid programmes aimed to improve the teaching and investigation infrastructure, and the training of specialists.

Workshops in France

Our colleague Marisol Hoyos was in Nice from January 24th to 31st presenting the TALIS Project to the students of the professors Jean-Pierre Cuq, Isabelle Gruca, and Nicole Biagioli at the Master de Didactique des Langues et des Disciplines from the Sophia Antipolis University of Nice. Additionally, a creative writing workshop of Tales from France was carried out, subsequently developing proposals for activities that used the tales to teach French as a foreign language at elementary and secondary schools.
